Travis Scott Teams Up with Fortnite for a Live Virtual Concert
Due to the Corona-virus pandemic, artists have had to cancel concerts and even tours. Live shows are the lifeblood of the music industry. Not only is it the main stream of revenue for artists, but it’s how fans show their support and interact with their favorite music.
Music Industry during the Pandemic
During this strange time, certain artists have figured out ways to fill the void that the cancellation of concerts and festivals has created. Some have taken to social media to share new music, and/or to give us some acoustic renditions. Others have been a part of virtual concerts that have taken place over the last couple of weeks. But Travis Scott is thinking outside the box, and will be bringing a virtual concert experience to his fans via Fortnite.
Fortnite Concerts
This won’t be the first time that Fortnite has done an in-game live Fortnite concert. Back in February of 2019, Marshmello delivered the first Fortnite virtual concert experience. During the Marshmello concert, players gathered in Pleasant Park, a “drop zone” in the game, which was reconstructed to host a large stage for the show. Marshmello played a handful of songs while in-game players danced, flew, and floated around the stage listening to the music and watching the show. We’re not sure exactly what Travis Scott has up his sleeve for his show, but there will most likely be some similarities to the Marshmello show, as it was a big hit.
Travis Scott’s “Astronomical” Event
The in-game Fortnite event will consist of 5 different virtual-live performances, spanning across 3 days. Today, Thursday April 23rd, the show starts at 7 PM EDT for “the Americas”. Tomorrow the show is for EU and ME and starts at 10 AM EDT. And Saturday there will be 3 shows, 1 for Asia and Oceania at 12 AM EDT, 1 for the EU and ME again at 11 AM EDT, and another show for the Americas at 6 PM EDT. You can only access the show for your part of the World by logging into Fortnite at the correct time, and loading into the “Astronomical” game mode. Enjoy!
